As part of its commitment to promoting road safety, VINCI Highways, through Lima Expresa, the concessionaire for the Via de Evitamiento and the Linea Amarilla, announced on "Pedestrian Day" the progress made in reinforcing and maintaining nine pedestrian bridges, in order to improve safety and guarantee the flow of traffic for pedestrians and drivers.

On August 18th, the concessionaire began maintenance works to replace the guardrails on seven bridges on the Via de Evitamiento: Castilla, IPD, Setame, Primavera, Santa Rosa, Palmeras and Quechuas. The works will be completed in mid-December 2023, during which time Lima Expresa will reinforce pedestrian prevention campaigns to raise awareness of the risks of road accidents.

Similarly, structural consolidation works on the Porvenir and Control bridges in the Zarumilla region, which started a few weeks ago, are 44% and 41% complete respectively. This work will improve their seismic resistance and extend their service life.

"At Lima Expresa, we encourage positive mobility among our neighbors and users. For their safety, we maintain and reinforce the pedestrian bridges on the Via de Evitamiento. On Pedestrian Day, we would like to remind all pedestrians to always use the dedicated pedestrian walkways, especially on our express roads. We would also like to remind them to avoid taking the bus outside bus stops. In this way, we will reduce the number of accidents", said Janis Rey, General Manager of VINCI Highways in Peru and General Manager of Lima Expresa.
