VINCI Highways inaugurates the new operations control center at LIMA Expresa
In order to improve the quality of service offered to its users, LIMA Expresa, a VINCI Highways entity, presented ARGOS, its renovated and modernized Operations Control Center (OCC). The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Marc Giacomini, Ambassador of France, José Antonio Salardi Rodríguez, Executive Director of Proinversión and other representatives of the Embassy and Proinversión.
The road concession improvement plan has allowed the operations control center to move up a step, with a modern space that benefits the quality of service and driver safety.
- The new infrastructure has 21 giant screens from which LIMA Expresa's surveillance and roadside assistance team supervises everything that happens on the Via de Evitamiento and the Linea Amarilla expressway, through more than 120 cameras.
- ARGOS has an automatic incident detection system in the tunnel of the Linea Amarilla expressway, which allows the operators to be quickly alerted and the emergency systems to be activated.
This new operations control center is located on the Linea Amarilla Expressway, between the Smart Tunnel and the Huanuco toll booth. It is managed by LIMA Expresa's Road Monitoring and Assistance Team, with the role to monitor, alert and coordinate the necessary actions to provide a quick response to possible incidents and emergencies that may occur on the roads.
The renovation of the operations control center is another step in the deployment of VINCI Highways' international standards in Peru, particularly in the areas of road safety and driver experience. Thanks to the infrastructure and rapid action of its roadside surveillance and assistance team, ambulance, a dedicated fire department and police personnel at the concessionaire's service, LIMA Expresa has reduced the number of serious accidents (with injuries or fatalities) on the Via de Evitamiento and Linea Amarilla expressway by 70%, from 432 in 2016 to 163 in 2022.
This positive dynamic is the result of VINCI Highways' knowledge sharing and investments, including road and sidewalk renovation, improved lighting and signage, installation of a fence on the central separator of the Via de Evitamiento, as well as coordination with the ATU and the PNP.
Janis Rey, General Manager of VINCI Highways in Peru and General Manager of LIMA Expresa, highlights that "ARGOS is our new operations control center, from which the roads under concession and the flows of the Rímac River are monitored and where, in case of need, the road rescue, ambulance, fire and national police services can be mobilized. The objective is to ensure the safety and fluidity of movement on our roads".
The French ambassador to Peru, Marc Giacomini, said: "I was delighted to visit these facilities. We can underline the capacity of LIMA EXPRESA to conceive new infrastructures and technological solutions to fluidify the transport in Lima. The Via de Evitamiento and the Linea Amarilla expressway are a good example of French dynamism in Peru and what French technologies can bring to mobility in the capital of Lima".
"All the technologies deployed in the operations control center are admirable in order to have comprehensive control of the entire area managed by VINCI Highways. For us, it is a great satisfaction to see the effective control of the quality of services provided to users. It is therefore important that world-class operators such as VINCI Highways, which have expertise deployed in different countries with multiple concessions, can benefit countries such as ours," added José Salardi, Executive Director of Proinversión.
