Lima Expresa, subsidiary of VINCI Highways in Peru and concessionaire of the Via de Evitamiento and the Linea Amarilla expressway located in Lima, has recently added six vans to its fleet of 100% electric vehicles as part of our commitment to decarbonise our activity. The company thus distinguishes itself as the largest road concession in Peru to lead the energy transition of its fleet of 100% electric vehicles, with a view to providing road assistance services to its customers and other road surveillance and maintenance services.

The six vehicles will emit 65 tonnes less CO2 than would be emitted annually by the same number of fossil-fuelled vehicles, enabling greater energy efficiency and a positive impact on the environment. With this acquisition, the concessionaire now has 14 vehicles that are 100% electric, and will save 100 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. In the future, Lima Expresa will continue to reduce its emissions by switching other vehicles to electric power. This energy transition should involve heavy and light cranes, vans and motorbikes.

As part of the VINCI Highways network, LIMA EXPRESA is in line with our global objectives to combat climate change. Since 2018, the subsidiary managed to reduce its direct emissions by around 40% between 2018 and 2022 through various energy efficiency initiatives: the installation of solar panels on site (including on tollbooth roofs), reducing annual emissions from electricity usage by 26%; the acquisition of electric vehicles, reducing emissions by 86%; and the signature of an agreement with energy provider Enel, guaranteeing that almost 2 million kWh of annual consumption comes from 100% renewable, emission -free energy.

Every month, Lima Expressa handles almost 1,000 incidents on its concession roads, 60% of which are dealt with in less than 10 minutes thanks to its roadside monitoring, assistance equipment, and its 24-hour emergency hotline.

"The work we do at Lima Expressa to provide quality service to customers on our roads goes hand in hand with actions that help reduce polluting emissions into the environment. This new acquisition of electric vehicles reinforces our commitment, we save 100 tons of CO2, or about 14 Olympic swimming pools per year, promoting a more positive mobility for our city and the environment," said Janis Rey Lozada, CEO of VINCI Highways Peru and Director of Lima Expressa.
