In Slovakia, a new stage completed in the modernization of Via Pribina
In service since 2011, the Via Pribina highway, operated by VINCI Highways, is currently delivering a major asphalt modernization program along its entire length. An important milestone has recently been reached, with the completion of the resurfacing of the entire highway towards Banska Bystrica (52 km).
This new phase involved replacing the top layer of pavement with a new layer of asphalt, specially treated to extend the life of the highway. The renovated surface area exceeds 400,000 m², the equivalent of 76 soccer pitches. All the old asphalt, representing 40,000 tonnes, was recovered and recycled in local plants.
Carried out in synergy with Eurovia SK, the works were completed under operational conditions in less than two years, and delivered 2 months ahead of schedule. To minimize the impact on traffic, works were carried out simultaneously in two zones whenever possible, and the highway remained fully available during the busiest traffic hours.
In 2026, Via Pribina will deliver the third and final phase of the program, which will include resurfacing the entire route towards Bratislava. By the end of this final phase, Via Pribina will have completed the resurfacing of the entire highway and its intersections, representing the biggest modernization project since opening to service.
The first highway P3 in Slovakia, Via Pribina demonstrates the ability of the public-private model to ensure the highest standards of safety and comfort for drivers over the long term.
