In Slovakia, VINCI Highways celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Via Pribina PPP
VINCI Highways has celebrated today the tenth anniversary of Slovakia's first motorway PPP in the presence of Belen Marcos, President of VINCI Highways. Since 2012, the 52-kilometre motorway has welcomed almost 130 million vehicles and has achieved numerous operational successes.
In terms of road safety, the new infrastructure has reduced accidents on the old road by 84%. Innovation has also helped improving road safety with, for example, the implementation recently of an early warning system to detect vehicles going the wrong way.
On the environmental front, our teams continue to accelerate the decarbonisation of the infrastructure and motorists' uses, thanks to new electric charging stations, LEDs lighting or 100 photovoltaic panels that will cover 20% of the office building energy needs.
And to go further, VINCI Highways has unveiled new commitments:
- Installing heat pumps to save up to 50% of gas consumption
- Developing biogas
- Implementing a complex water retention system, which should reduce drinking water consumption by 50%.
- Creating 16,000m² of additional wild grassland and installing 60 beehives on the motorway's edge
This tenth anniversary has also been the occasion to unveil the new Via Pribina logo. It reflects the future vision of the project, embodying both modernity and dynamism. It is entitled Via and Pribina, in homage to the ninth-century ruler, Prince Pribina. Among Prince Pribina's important achievements was the construction of the first Christian church in Slavic territory in the town of Nitra, the starting point of the Via Pribina expressway.
The Via Pribina is a unique project, built with quality and safety in mind. Its management is a model for VINCI Highways and Meridiam, the international groups supporting the project. The years to come will be marked by more innovations focused on safety, while continuing to meet our commitments to the environment.
