In the United States, the operating teams of the East End Crossing bridge over the Ohio River (VINCI Highways / VINCI Concessions) have installed five sets of waste bins for pedestrians and cyclists, each equipped with solar-powered waste compactors on one side and a recycling bin on the other.

In addition to encouraging recycling and ensuring a gain in waste storage volume, they are equipped with a wireless connection capable of evaluating their filling and notifying the operating personnel when their intervention is necessary. The aim is to optimise the frequency of collection. An environmentally friendly innovation that should lead to a 70% saving in waste collection costs.
