Via Niedersachsen, whose shareholders are VINCI Concessions and Meridiam investments SAS, is responsible for the planning, extension, upgrading, operation and maintenance of the A7 freeway between Bockenem and Göttingen under a public-private partnership (PPP).

First construction phase between Seesen and Düderode goes into operation

The first major section of the A7 was expanded to three lanes in both directions and opened between kilometer 221.0 near Seesen and kilometer 225.5 near Düderode. With the opening of this section, users of the A7 can look forward to three lanes in each direction.

In addition to the traffic, a few remaining services and handover inspections will be carried out.

Completion of bridges and noise protection measures

The opening of Section 1 to traffic does not end with the widening of the section from two lanes to three lanes plus hard shoulder.

A total of 4 ABW structures and 1 ÜBW structure were built. ABW structures are bridges where the freeway passes over another road. In the case of an ÜBW structure, the freeway passes under another road.

Between Seesen and Düderode, 3 stormwater retention basins and 925 m of noise barrier were built.

Philippe Rossignol, Managing Director of Via Niedersachsen, is pleased with the completion of the work, especially with regard to the quality of life of residents, which will be significantly improved not only by the noise barriers, but also by the porous asphalt used: “Porous asphalt – also called OPA – can contribute to a sustainable noise reduction of -5 dBA”.

In August, another section will be completed and put into service, followed by a section at the southern end of the site, which will be completed in the first half of August and delivered with a 3+3 way circulation plan.
