At VINCI Concessions, we aim to integrate a growing proportion of recycled materials in all the projects we manage. This principle also guides our action during the operation phase, as we have implemented an ambitious waste management policy. With one single target for our entire network to send zero waste to landfill by 2030.

As part of this commitment, Lima Expresa, concessionaire of the Vía de Evitamiento and the Línea Amarilla express road in Peru, delivered six tons of waste electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE) to be recycled.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, in Peru more than 200,000 tons of WEEE are generated annually, or approximately 6kg per inhabitant. Since 2019, Lima Expresa and Entel have maintained the agreement “Let’s recycle to transform” to process the waste electrical and electronic equipment of the road concessionaire through the collective system Recolecc.

Lima Expresa collected obsolete and disused equipment that was decommissioned, such as surveillance cameras, luminaires, computers, monitors, printers and reflectors that guaranteed fluidity and safety in the Vía de Evitamiento and the vía expresa Línea Amarilla from 2012 to 2021. Additionally Lima Expresa, has 11 recycling containers located in the operational bases, toll plazas and administrative offices to promote the recycling of WEEE among its workers.

This initiative allows Lima Expresa to approach its environmental goal of zero waste in landfills by 2030. The environmental ambition of environmental preservation has four axes of action: energy efficiency, water, compliance with regulations and waste management under a circular economy approach.

"Until 2021 we had recycled 2.5 tons of WEEE, today we achieved a milestone in Lima Expresa with this new delivery of six tons. This has been possible thanks to the support of our allies and our team, who are aware of the problem of the large amount of waste generated in the country and who are a key part of achieving changes that improve our environment."
