In Russia, VINCI Concessions teams, with their partners, completed the construction of section 7 of the motorway between Moscow and St Petersburg. This new 103 km section has open to traffic on September 3.

Begun in 2016 as part of a 33-year concession contract for the design, financing, construction and operation of sections 7 and 8 of the Moscow-St Petersburg Motorway, the new section 7 includes 39 engineering structures, including 14 bridges, 25 overpasses and 5 service areas. Taking into account ecological continuity, this new section also includes many large fauna passages, insulated by noise barriers.

Section 7 connects the cities of Velikiy Novgorod and Tosno, located at 200 and 70 km south of St Petersburg respectively. This new section will make it easier and safer for motorists to travel, and thus improve mobility in the Novgorod and Leningrad regions.

Construction of the last section 8 – 34 km between Tosno and St. Petersburg – continues, and the new motorway between Moscow and St. Petersburg should be fully operational in the coming months. A new 669-km road link, it will connect Russia’s two largest cities in less than 5 hours and will also be part of the transport corridor between Northern Europe and Western China.
