Committed to reducing its emissions, Lyon-Bron Airport obtains Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) level 2 certification
Lyon-Bron airport has obtained ACA (Airport Carbon Accreditation) level 2, which attests to the existence of a carbon management plan and an effective emissions reduction trajectory. As part of VINCI Airports’ strategy to achieve net zero emissions with sequestration of its residual emissions for its airports in the European Union by 2030, Lyon-Bron Airport has committed to reducing its direct CO2 emissions by 50% by 2025 (compared to 2018).
Lyon-Bron airport is France’s 3rd largest airport for business aviation and has been certified level 2 (“Reduction”) of the ACA program. This level of certification requires :
- the development of a carbon management plan, with emission reduction targets;
- a reduction in carbon emissions from Scopes 1 and 2, i.e. emissions that are under the direct control of the airport, compared to a three-year rolling average of emissions.
To achieve this objective, Lyon-Bron Airport first mapped the platform’s carbon emissions in order to identify avenues for reduction and then embarked on an action plan to significantly reduce its CO2 emissions.
This action plan is based in particular on the electrification of the vehicle fleet, as well as on the increasing use of renewable energies (green electricity and biogas) to cover 100% of needs by 2025.
In addition, with a view to encouraging the entire airport ecosystem to make the transition to a greener future, the airport will also carry out actions outside its perimeter, for example by installing recharging stations for electric vehicles or by facilitating (power supply, hangar, etc.) the reception of electric aircraft.
All of these actions aim to reduce direct emissions by 50% in 2025 compared to the reference year 2018 and to reach zero net direct emissions in 2030 for scopes 1 and 2.
The world’s leading private airport operator, VINCI Airports operates 53 airports in 12 countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Thanks to its expertise as a global integrator, VINCI Airports develops, finances, builds and manages airports by providing its investment capacity and its know-how in optimizing operational performance, modernizing infrastructures and managing their operations. environmental transition. VINCI Airports is the first airport operator to have committed to an international environmental strategy in 2016, to achieve the goal of net zero emissions across its entire network by 2050.
