Olympia Odos, a VINCI Highways subsidiary and concessionaire of the Athens-Patras motorway in Greece, wins six awards at the Mobility Awards 2021, which recognise innovative practices, technologies and applications used by companies in the country’s automotive sector.

The honorary “Motorway of the Year” award recognises the many initiatives undertaken by Olympia Odos and VINCI Highways to maintain a high level of safety on the motorway and to protect the environment.

The VINCI Highways subsidiary also won an award in the “Motorway Customer Service” category for its innovative kilometric charging.

The following initiatives have also been honoured in different categories:

  • Motorway safety: using modern prevention technologies and informing users through campaigns and awareness-raising activities;
  • Smart Tunnel Project: an intelligent system that measures and collects data from various points on the equipment, which is then analysed to ensure real-time monitoring, identification of any faults and taking of any corrective action.
  • Environmental management of motorways: installation of LED lighting in 17 tunnels and the corresponding 65% reduction in energy consumption, the design of the first “green” motorist service stations in Greece, or the use of certified energy produced by renewable energy sources.
